Tarrant County 9-1-1 District processes about 6,000 9-1-1 calls per day.
Over 81% of these calls come from cell phones. There are over 1 million landline records in the Tarrant County 9-1-1 database. With all this diversity, quality assurance is an ongoing process.
Call takers report problem calls to District staff, who investigate and get the problem corrected. The primary tool the call takers use to report problems is the 9-1-1 B Problem Call Report. Wireless test calls are scheduled regularly. The testing program involves test calls from six major wireless network phones.
There are over 300 test sites throughout the Tarrant County 9-1-1 District service area. The primary objective of the testing program is to gain first-hand knowledge about each of the six major wireless networks to train better the call takers on how to handle wireless calls. Another objective of this Phase 2 testing is to determine if the wireless carriers are continuing to meet the FCC mandate for accuracy. One indication that these quality assurance efforts are working is that less than .25% of total 9-1-1 calls produce a No Record Found condition.
